About Pika Furniture Studio

Pika Furniture Studio is a passion project.  Corey and I went to high school together and both took our own separate paths to becoming furniture makers, but we decided in 2019 to join forces and start the Pika Furniture Studio.  It has been the battle that every small business faces of hard work, stress, sleepless nights, but also one of the most rewarding journeys we could have asked for.

When you order a piece of furniture from Pika, understand that our goal is to create legacy.  We want you to feel it every time you see one of our pieces and be able to appreciate the thought and craftsmanship that goes into it. In a world built on instant gratification and consumerism, building something timeless is a fading art.  We are working to bring it back.

Why do we go through all this effort to try and make something timeless?  First of all, it is for our own gratification and pride.  I guarantee we are putting our best effort into our work because it makes us feel good.  Second, we are building pieces we hope will last.  Resources are more and more limited, and beautiful wood is something that is harder and harder to find.  To build something that only lasts for a short time doesn’t align with who we are.

Our lumber sourcing is another thing we have put a lot of effort into.  I have personally traveled from California to Arkansas looking for family owned mills to provide us with our lumber.  We currently have a large inventory of hand selected trees that we know where they came from that we make most of our furniture from.  We don’t have a perfect model yet, but I guarantee that we will have it figured out where every piece we use comes from a sustainable source before too long.  My dream would be that each board in your furniture has a source and a story to where it came from.  Trees we work with can be hundreds of years old, and their stories are worth telling.

This page is a hard one to write and have it bring out the genuine feelings we have for our boutique shop we have built, but I hope this gives you a taste of the heart and soul that has gone into this business.  If you have read this far, we appreciate you taking the time to learn about us and our mission.  We look forward to working with you on your next project.
